“Steve James is very simply one of the very best slide players, blues players and performers I’ve ever met. His shows are exciting and powerful. Wether you are a guitar player or just a lover of music I promise you will smile ear to ear!” – Paul Heumiller

About Steve

His touted playing, singing and song-craft have been featured on several solo albums. For these, he’s been joined in the studio by musical cohorts including Bad Livers, Bob Brozman, Cindy Cashdollar, Ruthie Foster, Alvin Youngblood Hart, Gary Primich, Ann Rabson, and his frequent duet partner Del Rey. As a sideman, on stage and in the studio, he’s played with Howard Armstrong, Bo Diddley, Kinky Friedman, Lum Guffin, Buddy Guy, John Hammond, Furry Lewis, James McMurtry, Maria Muldaur, Jesse Thomas, and Sam The Sham. He’s often been invited to jam onstage with the likes of Hot Tuna, Tommy Emmanuel and Chip “Wild Thing” Taylor, has recorded soundtrack music for film director Richard Linklater, and has had his original tunes covered by a slate of artists which includes his early hero and friend Dave Van Ronk.

Steve has guested on many syndicated radio broadcasts worldwide. These include “A Prairie Home Companion”, NPR Morning Edition, Mountain Stage, and BBC’s Paul Jones Show. (He might have been on TV too, but wouldn’t know it since he doesn’t have one.) In recent years, he has also served as an Arts Envoy for U.S. embassies in Bulgaria, Finland and Guatemala. For more information visit Steve’s website www.stevejames.com

“I first heard of Dennis Scannell and his True North Guitars from Martin Simspon. Since then I’ve played a number of them and each was amazing and memorable. Dennis achieves a full and resonant voice that is perfect for fingerstyle guitar. I can’t imagine any player needed anything more.” – Paul Heumiller

This Model 2 Grand Concert was built with Dennis’ finest Brazilian Rosewood and a Lucky Strike Redwood Top. Hear the guitar and reads the details by clicking here.

The Lamehorse Gitjo, by Jeremy Jenkins, was made to offer guitarist a chance to make that banjo twang. The six string banjo is not a new concept, however this Lame Horse Gitjo is full of style and has a sound everyone loves. The tone ring is crafted from superbly figured Sapelle and Maple with a lovely Diamond pattern ring. The multi piece neck meets the body via a thick brass plate that add wonderful sustain and power. This is a really fun instrument that will give you a whole other sound on stage, in the studio or on your front porch. From Blues to Old Time to Celtic you’ll love having this in your arsenal.
